MORE ABOUT ME...
My interests in education: I theorize and conduct research in the application of argumentation in education, the relationship to learning, critical thinking about social issues, and conceptual change in science. Some of my research is in computer-supported collaborative reseach. I am particularly interested in how indivduals weigh, evaluate, refute, or diminish counterarguments, including the design of creative solutions. My concept of "argument-counterargument integration" relates to evaluating and combining arguments from different sides of an issue to develop an overall integrated argument. I used Doug Walton's argumentatin framework, and this fits naturally into the dialogue game approach.

My experience in education: I have been a professor of educational psychology for the last eleven years, and teach both preservice teachers (with on-line distance education) and doctoral seminars in cognition and instruction.

What else you should know about me: I am also interested in climate change education and how computer-supported discussion systems can be combined with a serious educational computer game that I have developed, Losing the Lake, which explores the impact of climate change on declining water levels in Lake Mean (the major source of water in the Las Vegas valley.

I joined this wiki because: I want to learn about various discussion-support sytems and try them out in my classes.

I will contribute in the following ways: Not sure yet.

I am willing to share my experience: Yes, email is nussbaum@unlv.nevada.edu.
